This week we spent most of our time gathering materials for the Rube Goldberg machine. i also starteed to design the control system for my ISU aeroplane.

Note Highlights:

Dimensioning:

Tolerances (+/-)

Imperial base unit = inch
Metric base unit = millimeter

arrow must touch extension lines

extension 3mm from object line

extension line extends 3mm from dimension line

Dimensioning Diameter:

Dimensioning Radii:
- don't need center located
- when dimensioning radii put lines to locate it if features are not straight

Dimensioning Rules:

each dimension should be clearly shown and stated

dimensioning should not be duplicated or given in 2 different ways

dimensions placed in a view where the best shape and true form are shown

avoid long extension and leader lines

place dimensions between views to improve clarity if it applies to both views

do mot assume symmetrical unless there is a centerline symbol or note

spacing between dimensions should be constant within a drawing

line up dimensions horizontally and vertically

avoid crossing dimension lines and leaders when possible

make use of notes and abbreviations and symbols

This is week 5s journals. This week was spent doing concept drawings for the final project.
These are the sketches that I did so far. They are concepts for the plane we will design. I have made drawings for a Passenger Plane (three views) a Fighter (one view) and a Bomber (random notes).

Sorry but Blogger isn't uploading my images, I will try again later.

This week for me was a small waste of time in this class. Just because I was at CWOSSAA Curling, and during Wednesday I spent be time listening to Mr. Petrella. Monday was the most productive because I started research for my final project.

Fixed Steering Link

Thanks to Zach I saw that I messed up my dimensioning in the Steering link Drawing. I added in the proper dimensions so that it is correct.

Updated Journals

These are my journals from the past two weeks that I missed.

Today I started research for my possible final project topic. I am going to design a simple aeroplane, it will most likely be similar to a WWI fighter plane. I am going to try and focus on structure such as wing types and frames, and controls. These are links to the information that I looked at today. I have also written down some notes of what I think I need in my notebook.
